On 5 June 2014, more than 140 participants from the industry, research, European institutions and international organisations came to Brussels to join the international textile and clothing conference “Free Trade and International Agreements”. The 15 distinguished speakers coming from different countries and institutions made a valuable contribution to the discussion on the way textile and clothing markets have changed in the last 20 years and on the impact of the numerous Free Trade Agreements (FTAs) signed across the world.

EURATEX, the European Apparel and Textile Confederation, is honoured to host the international textile and clothing conference ‘Free Trade and International Agreements’ on 5 June 2014 in Brussels. The conference is aimed to initiate the open debate on Free Trade and International Agreements’ influence on the world markets of the textile and clothing sector.
EURATEX initiates Energy Made-to-Measure an information campaign running until 2016 to empower over 300 companies, notably SMEs, to become more energy efficient.
In Europe the energy bill has always been a crucial element in the competitiveness of textile sector. Today companies across the whole textile & clothing value chain place more and more at the centre of their growth strategy both sustainable production and higher efficiency. EURATEX, the European Apparel and Textile Confederation, together with all the key stakeholders and sectors of the Fashion and High-end industries was present at a high-level lunch organized by Walpole, the British Luxury association, during which European Commission Vice-President Antonio Tajani, EU Commissioner for Enterprise and Industry, presented the Action Plan to implement the European strategy for Fashion and High-end industries by 2020.

THE EUROPEAN TEXTILE AND CLOTHING INDUSTRY SHED POSITIVE LIGHTS TOWARDS ITS 2025 FUTURE
The 2nd Euratex Convention – the European exchange & meeting platform for the textile industry – took place on 4 and 5 November 2013 at Deutsche Bank (DB) in Berlin. Gesamtverband textil+mode hosted the event and geared the Convention towards a future-oriented subject: "European Textiles & Fashion 2025 - A new industry paradigm driven by innovation". The event co-organised with EURATEX allowed 130 participants from 16 countries to listen to 18 differently angled lectures providing ideas and visions for the future of the Textile and Clothing Industry......

EUROPEAN TEXTILE AND CLOTHING IS EXTREMELY DISAPPOINTED BY THE FACT THAT PAKISTAN WILL BENEFIT FROM GSP+
During its meeting the 5th November the International Trade Committee of the European Parliament has decided to support the EU Commission proposal for a Unique Delegated Act including 10 country applications for GSP+. Euratex has strongly opposed the Commission proposal on the grounds that it did not allow an effective assessment of each country’s application. In particular Euratex pointed out that Pakistan’s application did not fulfill the necessary conditions. EURATEX URGES MEPs TO OPPOSE A UNIQUE DELEGATED ACT FOR GSP+ APPLICATIONS

EUROPEAN TEXTILES+ FASHION 2025 - A NEW INDUSTRY PARADIGM DRIVEN BY INNOVATION
The high level 2nd Euratex Convention takes place on 4 & 5 November at Deutsche Bank, Berlin. The event is organized and run by Gesamtverband textil+mode. Representatives from banks, institutes, associations and companies are looking into the year 2025, shedding light on how our industry is going to look by then. One thing is for sure: It will be - driven by innovation - entirely different from today.
