Euratex Annual Report - 2016
In 2016, the EU-28 Textile & Clothing industry considered as a whole represented turnover €171 billion and more than €4 billion of investment. Thanks to a revival in EU activity, the 177.700 T&C companies still employ more than 1.7 million workers. EU external trade was more dynamic than in the previous year, with €45 billion worth of T&C exports and €110 billion worth of imports from Third markets.
Euratex Annual Report - 2015
Textile and clothing remains one of the largest manufacturing industries in Europe. In 2015, a number of positive trends emerged in our sector. For the first time in many years, employment in the European textile and clothing industry rose as a whole and our companies hired new employees. Despite vigorous global competition, our companies managed to increase their turnover thanks to improved confidence from consumers in the EU.
Euratex Annual Report - 2014
Although the textile and clothing activity lost some momentum towards the end of 2014, the positive performance in the first part of the year helped our industry activity to expand and could be seen in the positive trends in turnover and retail sales. The growth was being driven by exports outside Europe. For the fifth year in a row, our SMEs managed to increase their exports across the world, meeting the needs of fast-growing consumer markets. This has been achieved amid increasingly difficult market conditions of accessing those attractive markets.
