The UK's EU Referendum

On 23 June 2016, the United Kingdom hold a referendum of its membership in the European Union. Unfortunately, the majority of voting UK citizens expressed their will to leave the European Union (Brexit – British exit from the EU).

Commissioner Bienkowska at EURATEX 20th Anniversary: Textiles is a Strategic Sector in Europe

On 9 June 2016, Euratex hosted its international conference ‘Best in Partnerships’ devoted to inter-sectorial partnerships to boost European manufacturing.

Klaus Huneke Nominated as the Next EURATEX President

On 9 June 2016, EURATEX General Assembly nominated a new President – Klaus Huneke will take the political lead of the confederation in January 2017 for a two years’ term.

BOOSTING REGIONAL TEXTILE INNOVATION WITH REGIOTEX

EU TRADE IN TEXTILE & CLOTHING GOODS WENT UP IN 2015

According to CITH, the Textile and Clothing Information Centre, the EU textile and clothing exporters succeeded in gaining further market shares in Third countries (+3.6%). On the imports side, the EU imports picked up by +9.6% in value terms, due to sharp increases from Asian countries. On the contrary, imports from the Mediterranean area (Turkey, Egypt, Morocco, and Tunisia) achieved a modest growth or even decreased over the period.
