Since 1981, the Textile and Clothing Information Centre (C.I.T.H.) has provided statistical information on trade in textile and clothing. These statistics are important for strategic planning as well as for measuring the performance of the enterprise against the trends of the sector.
The basic data are collected by Eurostat from national customs (imports and exports) and subsequently treated by the CITH. CITH’s objective is to provide the EUROPEAN TEXTILE AND CLOTHING INDUSTRY with high-quality statistical information in a timely manner.
The European Technology Platform for the Future of Textiles and Clothing is a European industry-led initiative which brings together all stakeholders involved textile research and innovation in Europe: the textile and clothing industry itself, related industries and service providers, the research and education community and public authorities at all levels. It’s main objective is to facilitate and support collaborative research and innovation to ensure the long-term competitiveness of Europe’s textile and clothing industry. TTIP is the trade and investment agreement negotiated between the EU and the US. This agreement will result in numerous potential benefit for European companies active in the textiles and clothing sector. Thus, our TTIP page collects the most updated and relevant issues in TTIP for our industry.
Official launch of the Ideas Powered website (www.ideaspowered.eu), an EU-wide interactive website dedicated to young people and Intellectual Property (IP), with contributions from young designers, composers, entrepreneurs and artists from all across the EU to show how IP supports innovation and creativity.
The Ideas Powered website also includes a video competition which invites young people to submit their views on how IP matters to them.

The ASEAN Intellectual Property Rights (IPR) Helpdesk is a free service offered by the European Commission to EU Small and Medium Companies and individuals to help them to understand, develop, protect and defend their creations in ASEAN Countries (Indonesia, Malaysia, the Philippines, Singapore and Thailand, Brunei, Burma, Cambodia, Laos, Vietnam ) Several experts are available to provide free professional advices and high-quality, tailor-made support on IP/IPR issues via different services (helpline service, seminars, webminars, guidebooks, events...Etc.)
“The easy and free way for companies to get rid of toxic chemicals in clothes and textiles” is the title of the Press Release marking the launch of the Textile Guide – an online chemical management tool completely free of charge, tailored exclusively for the textile sector. At the core of the Guide is a searchable database for chemicals, containing information on more than 6 500 chemicals.
Trainings and briefings
The Helpdesk provides free training for European SMEs on topics related to IP protection in China. We are happy to co-organise a training event for your members or provide a briefing to trade delegations either before or during a visit to China. Living, working or studying in any EU country of your choice is a basic EU right. Enterprises also have the right to establish, provide services and do business anywhere within the EU. Yet, sometimes it can be difficult to enjoy these rights due to lack of information, divergent interpretations of EU law by national administrations and mistakes or misunderstandings. Moreover, when a citizen or a business has to deal with an administration in another country, in another language and with different administrative practices it can create additional barriers.
To overcome these difficulties, the EU created the SOLVIT network.
SOLVIT is a user-friendly service, free of charge, designed to help EU citizens and businesses find fast and pragmatic solutions to their internal market problems.
SOLVIT consists of a network of 30 centres that work together to solve problems arising from the incorrect application of EU law by national administrations. There is a SOLVIT centre in all EU countries and in Iceland, Liechtenstein and Norway.
Based in Alicante, the Office for Harmonization in the Internal Market or OHIM (Spanish: OAMI, German: HABM, French: OHMI, Italian: UAMI) is the Community trademarks and designs registry for the internal market of the European Union. Apart from promoting and managing registrations of Community trademarks and designs, the OHMI also intends to helps SMEs to better manage, promote and defend their trademarks and designs (practical guidebooks, success stories, search facilitators…etc.) Since a decision from the European Union and since 05/06/2012 the OHIM also entrusts the European Observatory on Counterfeiting and Piracy.
