At its annual media conference held today at Swisslastic AG in Wald (ZH), Swiss Textiles reported on the progress of business in 2014. Although added value had fallen slightly overall the branch still achieved export growth of 4.6% for textiles. The trend for the current year remains uncertain. The abolition of the exchange rate peg against the euro brought a massive deterioration of international competitiveness in a matter of minutes. Textile, woodworking and furniture industries: the sky is clearing up, but one swallow doesn’t make a summer

As a result of the annual General Assembly on Thursday 23 April in Ghent, Fedustria, the Belgian association for companies of the textile, woodworking and furniture industries, takes stock of the past year, with indications for 2015 and policy recommendations.

In 2014 sales in the textile industry rose by 4.4 %, sales in the furniture industry rose by 4.2 % and those in the wood industry rose by 2.1 %. Employment remained relatively steady, with only a slight fall. At the end of 2014 the sky cleared up, with a cheaper Euro and a fall in oil prices at zero inflation.

European Textile Technology Platform Celebrates 10 years at its Annual Public Conference in Brussels

Brussels, 30 March 2015 - On 25-26 March 2015 the 10th annual public conference of the European Technology Platform for the Future of Textiles and Clothing (Textile ETP) took place in Brussels. Over 150 participants from 20 countries witnessed a very broad overview of key textile technologies which moved from research labs into industrial practice over the last 10 years or which are expected to do so over the next 10 years. 31st edition of the IAF World Fashion Convention to be hosted in Istanbul, Turkey.

The International Apparel Federation is heading to Istanbul this year to host the 31st IAF World Fashion Convention. With organizing partner TGSD, with support of IHKIB, this year’s World Fashion Convention will be hosted alongside the 8th Istanbul Fashion Conference on 14-15 October 2015, simultaneously with the Istanbul Fashion Week.
