TTIP and benefits for SMEs

On 22 January 2015, Euratex attended a successful breakfast meeting organised by BUSINESSEUROPE in the European Parliament devoted to the benefits which SMEs will be able to gain from TTIP (Transatlantic Trade and Investment Partnership). REACH - Joint Industry Views on the DU Notification for Authorised Uses - Art 66

After an authorisation has been granted for a specific substance and a specific use, holders of an authorisation as well as downstream users referred to it have to comply with some obligations.

According to Art 65 of REACH - The holders and downstream users shall include the authorisation number on the label before they place the substance or preparation containing the substance on the market for an authorised use without prejudice to Directive 67/548/EEC and Directive 1999/45/EC. EURATEX welcomes Mr. Serge Piolat as its President taking the office in January 2015 for a two year term. Mr. Piolat worked out an ambitious programme to be accomplished during his presidency. Energy efficiency in apparel industry – impact on business, SESEC report released (copy 1)

The International Energy Agency highlights how energy efficiency can capture multiple benefits for those willing to address it, both in public policy making and in private business. Resource saving, costs reduction, better environment and higher industrial productivity may be just a few of the more shining of such benefits. The French and Italian fashion industries ask for an ambitious European action plan serving the protection of creative industries

On the occasion of the Italian Presidency of the EU Council, the representative associations of textile and fashion – UIT, UFIH, SMI, Fédération Française de la Couture, UNIFAB, INDICAM, have signed the Memorandum of Understanding for protection and defense of fashion and creative industry at the headquarters of EURATEX in Brussels. With more than 180.000 enterprises, most of those SMEs, and nearly 1.8 million employees generating approximately 5 million indirect jobs, the European textile and apparel industry represents about 3% of the EU GDP.
