Another Step Forward for Harmonised Textile EPR

Textile PRO Forum Holds Its Third In-Person Plenary Meeting of 2025 in Prague

Prague, 27 November 2025 – The Textile PRO Forum convened for its third in-person meeting, bringing together 34 delegates out of the 23 participating organisations across Europe to advance the harmonisation of EPR in the textile sector.

The participants marked the value of jointly creating technical knowledge and the outlook to share inputs with authorities and other interested parties in 2026.

Organised by EURATEX and ATOK, the meeting continued the momentum built since the Forum’s launch in 2023, fostering practical cooperation among national PROs, textile associations, and EU-level stakeholders. Building on the foundations laid in previous gatherings, the Prague plenary reaffirmed the Forum’s role as the central platform supporting effective and coordinated textile EPR implementation across Europe.

Over two intensive days, participants engaged in deep-dive sessions on strategy, a policy update covering the Waste Framework Directive and related legislation, including the Circular Economy Act and the Waste Shipment Regulation, and progress reports from the Forum’s five workstreams.

Delegates also shared national updates, highlighting both operational successes and persistent challenges in the rollout of textile EPR, especially in light of the recently published EU requirements of 16 October. Workstream leads presented tangible progress in reducing administrative burdens, developing a shared harmonised framework, and expanding PRO coverage across Europe, with several initiatives now moving into practical implementation.

As Europe approaches mandatory separate collection of textile waste and the gradual establishment of national EPR schemes, the Forum’s mission, to exchange knowledge, streamline approaches, and identify common solutions, remains more relevant than ever.

The meeting concluded with a strong, shared commitment to strengthen cooperation, support innovation, and contribute to the achievement of the EU’s circular economy objectives, while reinforcing the competitiveness and sustainability of the European textile sector.
