Industry Calls for EPR Digital One-Stop Shop to Streamline EU Compliance

Brussels 12 June 2025 – Leading European industry associations, including EURATEX, are urging the European Commission to accelerate the harmonisation and digitalisation of Extended Producer Responsibility (EPR) systems across the EU. In response to rising regulatory complexity, the joint statement supports the Commission’s proposal for a Digital One-Stop Shop (OSS), as outlined in the Single Market Strategy and Clean Industrial Deal.

Fragmented national rules  will be creating up to 108 parallel EPR compliance processes for companies engaged in packaging, electronics, batteries, and textiles. Such unnecessary burden opposes the EU Single Market strategy, hindering business compliance and sustainability

To address this, the statement calls for:

  • A centralised digital interface (OSS) to facilitate single registration, reporting and eventually payment,
  • Integration with national EPR registries via single a interface (Application Programming Interfaces – APIs).
  • the upcoming Circular Economy Act to empower the Commission establishing OSS as trusted and business-neutral party

The proposed solution promises to cut administrative costs, improve compliance efficiency, and support the EU Green Deal objectives.
