EPR is being assessed by policymakers at EU and Member State level as a potential instrument to promote sustainable textiles and textile waste management in accordance with the waste hierarchy, as well as to support handling of the expected increase in textile collection volumes. Om 5 July 2023, the European Commission proposed harmonised EU EPR rules for textiles, as part of the revision of the WFD.
EURATEX continues to contribute to the EPR policy debate, cooperating with European institutions, national authorities and other stakeholders, towards fostering harmonisation across the EU.
