Brussels, September 2025 – The Circular Garment, flagship symbol of European textile innovation and interregional collaboration, will be unveiled to the public together with the “making of” documentary and backbone document at the Circular Textile Days in Den Bosch, the Netherlands, on 10–11 September.
Developed under the RegioGreenTex project, coordinated by EURATEX, the Circular Garment is the result of over 16 months of European cooperation and efforts to apply circular economy principles to the textile industry. The final result demonstrates that sustainable, high-quality clothing can be produced from recycled fibers – combining both mechanical and chemical recycling methods – without compromising on design, comfort, or durability.
“This garment is proof that circular fashion is not just a concept, but a reality we could one day scale across Europe,” believe the consortium of creators. “Moreover, from waste to wearable, every step of its journey has been transparent, traceable, and collaborative.”
The Journey:
- Concept and design: Soraya Wancour (Quest Studio) is the mastermind behind the overall concept, ensuring adherence to circularity and innovationand overseeing the entire creation process;
- Innovative Yarn Development: Research centers CITEVE and RISE combined mechanically and chemically recycled fibers into a single, high-quality yarn;
- Raw Material Transformation: Textile waste was processed by partners Sasia and SaXcell into reusable fibers that form the basis for the innovative yarn;
- Fabric Creation: An interregional collaboration between three innovative companies – DBT Fibre, Textile de la Thiérache, and Tintex – ensured that the yarn is spun, knitted, washed, and treated to produce a smooth, durable fabric based on innovations that boost sustainability and circularity;
- Garment crafting: The garment was then sewn into reality by the crafty hands at Katty Fashion, while the finishing touches were applied by Officina +39, with a custom dye within a waterless post-treatment.
